MANILA, Philippines–The Philippines saw its semifinal hopes disappear after a 3-1 loss to Myanmar on Wednesday in the Asean Football Federation (AFF) U-18 Women’s Championship at Jakabaring Athletic Field in Palembang, Indonesia.
Two goals scored by Myanmar in the first half dashed any hopes of a favorable result for the female booters, who absorbed their second straight setback in Group B.
Jonalyn Lucban’s 87th minute goal gave coach Let Dimzon’s side a small chance, but Hnin Myint Aye completed a brace during injury time to secure the full three points for Myanmar.
Myanmar claimed its second win in as many matches.
