Why book?

Location, location, location. Smack bang in the centre of the town of Comporta, AlmaLusa puts you in a privileged position to enjoy the location’s restaurants, shops and – of course – beach, without needing to hire a car.

Set the scene

Comporta is arguably one of Portugal’s most in-demand destinations. However, it’s all too easy to never actually step foot in the village when you visit the area. Among the pine forests and rice fields of the Alentejo coastline, this tiny part of Portugal technically consists of just a few roads, which means that most nearby hotels and properties are located in the surrounding towns of Carvalhal, Torre and Muda. Most will find themselves in the village at some point, whether to eat or shop, but AlmaLusa places you amongst the whitewashed buildings, restaurants serving up locally-caught fish and shops offering a taste of what is known as Comporta chic – ie floaty kaftans, rattan hats and bags and colourful accessories. The best part is that the beach – almost certainly one of the most stunning in Portugal – is just a 15-minute walk from the property.

The backstory

AlmaLusa’s Lisbon hotel is a firm favourite, but making the jump from boutique city hotel to beachside property isn’t always simple. As the only hotel in the village of Comporta, and the only one in the area within walking distance of a beach, AlmaLusa Comporta has the weight of expectation on its shoulders; luckily, it lives up to the hype. A more affordable option in a prime location, it’s ticking many of the boxes other hotels just couldn’t.
