Walang Pasok: The Palace declared Dec 26, 2022, and January 2, 2023, a special non-working day.
The Palace finally announced on Friday that December 26, 2022, and January 2, 2023, are special non-working days throughout the country.
Proclamation No. 115, as shared by the Office of the Press Secretary, stated that declaring December 26 (Monday) and January 2 (Monday) as special non-working holidays give people more time to celebrate and bond with their families, relatives, and friends.
The palace has also directed the Department of Labor and Employment to issue a circular in implementing the said proclamation for the private sector.
The previous official schedule of holidays as per Proclamation No. 42, issued last November 11, was now replaced by Proclamation No. 90, adding January 2, 2023, as an additional special non-working day.
Jan. 1, 2023, is a regular holiday.

Employees who report for work on a special non-working holiday should note that they will get 1.3 times their daily rate. In the meantime, workers who do not work on such days will get no pay.

The Labor Code of the Philippines specifies two types of holidays: the “regular holiday” and the “special non-working day.”
There is a difference in the compensation employers must pay between the two types of holidays. There is also a difference in what is closed and in how the days are declared.
