Nearly all of my most halcyon days have been spent on the best beaches in Greece, in various shades of summer, age and experience. And most of those have revolved around the countries’ idyllic shorelines, stretched out on smooth slabs of warm rock, bobbing on boats or gliding through glass-like water to work up an appetite for grilled fish. I have no need for ritzy beach clubs or plush sunbeds, just secluded, pebbled bays where you can skinny dip in the morning sun or stony outcrops for diving into the clearest waters, again and again as the sun starts to dip.
Some of my favourite beaches in Greece require you to pack a picnic, some have simple taverns within easy walking distance. Some are best to reach by boat, while others demand a little hiking. They are all united by beautiful waters and a hefty dose of soul.
